BACK TO SCHOOL SPECIAL

Despite what my television tells me night after night, I believe that there is a ton of beauty in the world. It’s not buried under a rock or hidden deep in a cave, its right in front of our very eyes – if we’d only take the time out to see and appreciate it. And yet there is also a need for much improvement in our society. At times it would almost appear that we as a species are going backwards rather than making progress. I took a vacation recently and learned one of the most important lessons of my life. This is a true story…partially. Continue reading

I Have A Dream…

I’m Drew Pillow average guy. I’m not a great orator or politician or anything like that; I’m just a simple man with simple wants and occasionally simple dreams like the one I had the other day. This is a true story… partially.

I dreamt that:
I had dinner with my mother in law and actually enjoyed myself
My kids asked for fruit after dinner instead of snacks
The tobacco industry decided to remove the 500 unlisted addictive chemicals from cigarettes
Took my car to the mechanic and they only fixed what was wrong with it for a fair price
Went to the doctor and he didn’t know what was wrong so he didn’t charge me.
The bookstore started a policy that if I buy a book and it sucks I can bring it back and get a refund Continue reading

I’d Rather Be Dead…

People have been using the phrase: “I’d rather be dead” for about as long as I can remember. From the first girl that I asked for a kiss, all the way up until recently when I invited a friend over to my house to watch the Cleveland Browns play. Folks for some reason just seem to like throwing that phrase around. I’m pretty sure that; with the exception of a few religious extremists, people don’t mean that they’d literally rather be dead. If they did then it would indicate that they have a very serious problem with prioritizing and people have way too much common sense for that to be a problem or do we? I recently noticed some things that made me wonder if we as a society really do have our priorities in order. This is a true story… partially. Continue reading

Who did YOU vote for & Why ?

People are talking politics these days. It’s like everywhere you go someone is talking about candidates, issues or taxes. People are talking politics in the barber shops and grocery stores. I’ve even heard people talking about politics at football games and in restaurants. It’s a good sign to see so many people talking about the state of our government.
But what is not a good sign is some of the things that people are saying. People are literally voting for the candidate that had a cookout last week and served up ‘a mighty fine plate of ribs’. For the life of me I could not make the connection between making executive decisions and cooking ribs. In the past few weeks I have asked people why they voted the way they did, and I’ve decided to put together this list of what I consider to be the 23 Oddest Reasons for Choosing a Candidate. This is a true story…partially. Continue reading

The Real Truth about UFOs

When it comes to UFO’s I have discovered that three things are almost always true:
1. Everybody loves a good ‘Space Man’ movie.
2. Hardly anybody really believes that UFO’s are real, and
3. People that do believe in flying saucers are often pretty weird.
Well you can officially start calling me weird now because just the other day I had an honest-to-goodness ‘Close Encounter’ of my very own. The story I am about to tell you might sound unbelievable, but this is an absolutely true story… partially.
