I woke up this morning and there she was standing in the middle of my bedroom, staring at me. She must have been happy to see me because she had a big smile on her face. Even though I hadn’t invited her over; there she was, ready or not: 2010 was here in all her glory welcoming me into her strange, new world. This is a true story… mostly.

People are talking politics these days. It’s like everywhere you go someone is talking about candidates, issues or taxes. People are talking politics in the barber shops and grocery stores. I’ve even heard people talking about politics at football games and in restaurants. It’s a good sign to see so many people talking about the state of our government.
But what is not a good sign is some of the things that people are saying. People are literally voting for the candidate that had a cookout last week and served up ‘a mighty fine plate of ribs’. For the life of me I could not make the connection between making executive decisions and cooking ribs. In the past few weeks I have asked people why they voted the way they did, and I’ve decided to put together this list of what I consider to be the 23 Oddest Reasons for Choosing a Candidate. As much as I’d like to claim innocence in this area I recently found out that I had a lot to work on. This is a true story… partially.

One day I was driving home from work when I saw a homeless guy standing at the intersection. This guy was holding a sign asking for food or money I think. To be honest, I didn’t even read the sign. I was really just sizing him up. Wondering what the hell his problem was and how did he get such a bum deal from life. I chalked it up to laziness or a drug problem and when the light turned green I drove off and never gave the guy a second thought.
